Sense my space

I was thinking of how I could sense my body space in a connection to other spaces. For example nature. I think nature is most natural space.I started to look at some artist works where they use body shape as a part of nature, it fits in and is in connection with a space around.
Mathilde Roussel

I started to look at some materials which I could relate to nature...
I also made small figure from clay. It reminded me little of wood bark.

After talking to my tutor and looking at some of my ideas I have decided to go back to idea I had at the beginning of this project, which is looking at peoples personal spaces at their homes. Maybe as the most of people I always liked to look into windows as I walk or drive pass the houses and imagine what kind of people live there, what are they lives....
So I made these boxes which represents personal space we live in...Each of them would represent someones personal/private space, their life, dreams etc...

Sense my space

Project title: To sense my space

Project idea is to understand the distances, areas around, between or within components of a piece.  To explore the senses that create, define and interrupt our spaces.
Our experience of a space is influenced by many things: by knowledge of the functions of the space, by cultural associations, by memory and imagination. (Imagining space through sound C. McCombe)
Trying to understand and sense my space I looked at other artist work and way how they understand space and represent it in their work.

Richard Serra

Around 1970 Richard Serra became a leading artist of large scale site-specific sculptures. His site-specific works challenge viewers perception of their bodies in relation to interior spaces and landscapes, and his work often encourages movement in and around his sculptures. He plays with space and viewers expectations. He creates dialogue with a particular architectural, urban or landscape setting.

Rachel Whiteread

Many of Rachel Whiteread works are casts of ordinary domestic objects. She mainly focuses on line and form of her pieces. The space she works with often is objects "negative space".
