Fashion Manipulate to Recreate

This swatch I made from organza, I wanted to capture lightness of feather with light weight fabric.

Print on two different weight fabrics/stitching/cut outs in fabric.

Print/stitched in  fabric cut out different weight fabric.

I used decorative cord to try recreate shapes from my sketches. I found  it easier to work with cord on small size swatches than with corset boning.

Fashion Manipulate to Recreate

 Manipulate to Recreate

Experimentation with printing on fabric.
I used stamp and paper cut for making prints on fabric.

Paper cut for print.

I wanted to see what difference it makes if you print on different texture fabric.

For this swatch I mixed printing on fabric and stitching in some parts of swatch.

Print/stitching.

Printing on two different fabrics/cut out stitched on first fabric.
Stitching around/cutting out shape.
For this swatch I made shape from cord and ironed it on self adhesive lining fabric.

Wooden beads stitched into fabric. Few shapes of wooden beads I stuffed with wadding.

Cutting into fabric and weaving with rope.

Creating own fabric using latex. This was my first time using this material so was not sure how to work with it and what the result will be. Still was interesting just to experiment.

I used wadding to create shape and volume.

Fashion Manipulate to Recreate

Project title Manipulate to Recreate

As a starting point for this project we had to develop interesting forms/structures around mannequin from fabric or any other material and develop a series of thumbnail 'surface designs' through a mark making through the line  and texture of the surfaces.
These are some forms we created.

These are sketches based on these forms created around mannequin.

From these sketches I am creating swatches of manipulation with fabric using different techniques.

This photo I am using for my color board.
I wanted to dye my own fabric so I did some experimentation using blue food coloring, turmeric, tissue paper, green tea powder etc. trying to achieve exact color of fabric.
