Lotte Reiniger is a German born artist, silhouette animator and film director inspired by Indonesian and Chinese shadow puppetry.As a teenager using black cardboard and scissors, she cut out silhouettes, joined them with wire or thread to make puppets movable, then positioned them on the surface of a light box and photographed each frame seperately
